After surviving a horrific attack aboard the U.S.S. Indianapolis in the second World War, Quint moved to Amity Island and devoted his life to hunting sharks and giving shark tours on the Orca. Quint only stopped his tours when he left with Chief Brody and Matt Hooper to capture a great white shark that had begun devouring the swimmers of Amity Island.
